This will be short, because I’m tired. I just wanted to show off the desktop theme I’ve been working on. I tried OpenBox for the first time, primarily because of the awesome work on http://ghost1227.com/. Those themes required a bit more setup than I was used to in DEs like KDE or GNOME, and this caused me to mess around with Conky and Tint2. My conclusion after doing so was, NEEDZ MOAR CONKY! So, I went to work. I couldn’t do what I wanted with my systray with Tint2, so I ended up using Trayer for the systray, and Tint2 for the clock and top panel. I used Conky for everything else; the silver panels, diagram lines, and icons are all part of the wallpaper, which I put together using GIMP. The laptop was derived from a CC-licensed photo on Flickr (Thanks!), primarily because I was too lazy to take a good photograph of my own laptop (it is the same model, after all), and the device icons were derived from the KDE project’s “mono” icon theme (Also Thanks!) – oh, and the Arch Linux logo is obviously from the Arch folks (Thanks too!).
Oh right… you’re probably expecting pictures after all of this build-up… Fine – here they are: (photos linked to Flickr pages)
As a note, this was mainly a fun project, to experiment with apps I hadn’t used before, OpenBox, and GIMP. The panels were heavily inspired by the Technolust theme here (although drawn myself), and the rest was heavily inspired by Hollywood’s portrayal of computers (now to work on the animated, 3D version of nmap! …Oh wait…).
Let me know what you think in the comments!

Are the system stats real-time, or just images? I think they’re actual, given that they changed between the pictures. If so, that’s extra neat! You might have to show me how to set that up some time.

They’re all real-time – that’s what Conky does. I wouldn’t mind helping you out if you want to try that, but read the manpages first, as they’re fairly self-explanatory.

Sweet setup! Keep up the good work! I’m glad my work inspired someone to do some research of their own.
