Everybody loves boardshots, right?

Today, a reasonably-long-awaited package came.  It contained a bluetooth-enabled bracelet, capable of vibrating and displaying callerID from a cell phone.  I wondered what other latent capabilities it might have.  We shall see… but for now, boardshots!
UPDATE: I’m going to see if I can borrow a better camera, and update this post with non-blurry pictures.  In the mean time, at least there’s something up.

I bought this from DealExtreme for about $40 CAD, with free shipping.  [product page]  It supports the HSP and HFP bluetooth profiles, and, contrary to some other statements floating around the Interwebs, it does not present a problem with answering calls; when a call arrives, you can accept or reject it with the button on the bracelet, or simply pick up your handset.  Note, however, that unless you manage to find a phone with two bluetooth radios, you won’t be able to use this and a headset simultaneously.

More information will be added to this post later, so check back.  I’m investigating the various hardware components, and will update when I have some news

    Hi,
I have been looking to get this device also.
I do have a question about the unit that i couldn’t find out online, does it display the time? (i dont want to carry around a watch and a wrist band)
Does it show text and who sent it?

This device is going to make me read up on programming.

    Thank you for any information.

@Jake: No, it does not display the time, and it doesn’t show the text, either. The screen appears to be a 1×12 character LCD, which displays status messages, and the phone number of the person who called/texted. Unfortunately, I don’t know if displaying an arbitrary string on the screen is going to work (at least, not easily), although I’m still wading through various specs to find out. The chipset in there is from CSR, and is an all-in-one Bluetooth/Battery charger/MCU/etc., with 6Mb of internal ROM, and an 8Mb flash chip on the board as well. I’m not entirely sure what it’s using all that memory for, and I haven’t had time to look into it. The CSR SDK is commercial, proprietary, and probably rather expensive, so changing the firmware isn’t going to happen. I had planned to pair it with my N810 for notifications, but if I can’t get the LCD doing what I want, then this is probably more useful (or less useless, anyway). However, I don’t have that model, but if someone feels like donating one, I’d be happy to look into it :P
